About Us
How it all began
The initiative for this organisation began as a result of a few personal donations made by Ms. Nimali De Silva and her family in 2017.
By mid-2018, Helping the Differently abled was established as a non-profitable charity organisation with the aim to have a wider outreach and make a considerable difference in the lives of these children.
Over the past few years, our organisation has managed to help more than 200 Cerebral Palsy children in need by coordinating with the Lady Ridgeway Paediatric Hospital in Colombo and Srimavo Bandaranayake Specialized Children Hospital in Peradeniya. This would have not been possible to achieve without the invaluable support and contributions from all our sponsors worldwide.
At present, our goal is to expand our society to other rural areas within Sri Lanka with the intention to lend a helping hand and make a difference to many other children along our journey.
Our story of smiles
A Sri Lankan Journalist (one of our sponsors) published a newspaper article in 2017 on daily mirror about a child we sponsored and through that article, we managed to really make a difference in her life… she ended up getting a house for her family ☺, our famous star “Senuri”
In 2018, Helping the Differently Abled held a Kapruka Pooja and invited sponsors and 30 children from all over Sri lanka who had been provided with mobility equipment. We provided them with refreshments and also got donations from the sponsors for the Pooja. It was an opportunity for the sponsors to get to know the children they donated and spend some quality time
